About Jesus

Are you tired of the rat race? Worn out by life? Burned out by all the pressure to be the best and look the best? Jesus offers us another way. He invites us to experience a rhythm of rest and grace.

Jesus Christ is the Son of God. He is one with God. And He came here to live among us, fully human. He experienced the same life we live. The joys. The sorrows. What it's like to be hungry, thirsty. He knows the pain you feel. The things you struggle with.

Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you'll recover your life. I'll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won't lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you'll learn to live freely and lightly.

Matthew 11: 28-30 (The Message)

Jesus was a blameless man. Sinless. Yet, some people hated him. So much so, they sought to kill him. So, he offered Himself up to die. And He did so of His own free will. Jesus was crucified on a Roman cross.

And that was the plan all along. He came to die for your sins, not His.

But death did not conquer Jesus. The third day after Jesus was crucified, He rose from the dead.

While they were saying all this, Jesus appeared to them and said, “Peace be with you.” They thought they were seeing a ghost and were scared half to death. He continued with them, “Don't be upset, and don't let all these doubting questions take over. Look at my hands; look at my feet—it's really me. Touch me. Look me over from head to toe. A ghost doesn't have muscle and bone like this.” As he said this, he showed them his hands and feet. They still couldn't believe what they were seeing. It was too much; it seemed too good to be true. He asked, “Do you have any food here?” They gave him a piece of leftover fish they had cooked. He took it and ate it right before their eyes. Then he said, “Everything I told you while I was with you comes to this: All the things written about me in the Law of Moses, in the Prophets, and in the Psalms have to be fulfilled.” He went on to open their understanding of the Word of God, showing them how to read their Bibles this way. He said, “You can see now how it is written that the Messiah suffers, rises from the dead on the third day, and then a total life-change through the forgiveness of sins is proclaimed in his name to all nations—starting from here, from Jerusalem!

Luke 24:36-49 (The Message)

Jesus died for you. So that you may have eternal life. Salvation.

That's what Christ did definitively: suffered because of others' sins, the Righteous One for the unrighteous ones. He went through it all—was put to death and then made alive—to bring us to God.

I Peter 3:18 (the message)

But you can't buy salvation. You can't earn it by doing good things. It's a gift. All you need to do is receive it. By asking for Him to be Lord of your life.

Don't think you're worthy? Don't think you're good enough? You can't be saved because of what you've done, the choices you've made? Jesus came for you. No matter where you've been. No matter how messy your life may seem right now. He wants a relationship with you.

Levi gave a large dinner at his home for Jesus. Everybody was there, tax men and other disreputable characters as guests at the dinner. The Pharisees and their religion scholars came to his disciples greatly offended. “What is he doing eating and drinking with crooks and 'sinners'?”Jesus heard about it and spoke up, “Who needs a doctor: the healthy or the sick? I'm here inviting outsiders, not insiders—an invitation to a changed life, changed inside and out.
